This interim position starts February 10, 2025 and will tentatively end March 21, 2025.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS                  

  1. Master’s degree.
  2. Valid Tennessee teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement. 
  3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL                

 

To provide all students with an enriched library environment containing a wide variety and range of materials that will invite intellectual growth; to aid all students in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of media center resources.

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Operates and supervises the media center to which assigned.
  1. Evaluates, selects, and requisitions new media center materials.
  1. Assists teachers in the selection of books, leveled texts, and other instructional materials, and makes media center materials available to supplement the instructional program.
  1. Informs teachers and other staff members about new materials the media center acquires.
  1. Maintains a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all media center materials, and instructs teachers and students on use of the system.
  1. Incorporates digital citizenship and library standards during instructional classes.
  1. Oversees digital STEM space programs and student activities
  1. Collaborates with teachers to design digital STEM activities that align to Tennessee State Standards.
  1. Works with teachers in planning those assignments likely to lead to extended use of media center resources.
  1. Promotes appropriate conduct of students using digital media center facilities.
  1. Maintains an inventory of instructional materials.
  1. Helps students to develop habits of independent reference work and to develop skill in the use of reference material in relation to planned assignments.
  1. Presents and discusses materials with a class studying a particular topic on the invitation of the teacher.
  2. Counsels with and gives reading guidance to students who have special reading problems or unusual intellectual interests.
  1. Arranges displays and exhibits likely to interest the media center’s patrons.
  1. Weeds obsolete and worn materials from the collection.
  2. Performs the clerical routines necessary for the smooth operation of the media center.
  1. Performs such other duties as may reasonably be prescribed by the principal.
