Description

This is a part-time position that does not include benefits.

 

Opportunity to earn a $500 supplement by obtaining or renewing your commercial drivers license per BTCS guidelines.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS                 

 

  1. High school diploma preferred.
  2. Shall possess a valid commercial driver’s license issued by the State Department of     Safety with appropriate endorsements for the position.
  3. Shall possess a valid operator’s license with not less than five years’ unrestricted driving experience.
  4. Shall file with the transportation coordinator upon employment a physical examination, utilizing a form supplied by the State Commissioner of Education.  Examinations are an annual requirement. 
  5. Substitute drivers shall meet all qualifications and requirements for regular drivers.
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL                

 

To provide safe and efficient transportation services for designated groups of students to and from their assigned schools or other designated points.

 

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Operates the vehicle in a safe manner and obeys all state and local traffic regulations.

  2. If not operating vehicle, will provide assistance to students and help maintain student safety. 

  3. Maintains a neat appearance, is courteous to parents and children, and cooperates with teachers and school officials.

  4. Participates in required state-sponsored safety classes to maintain appropriate certifications.

  5. Wears seat belt at all times when such belt is provided.

  6. Remains on the bus while students are on the bus, including loading and unloading.

  7. Promotes safety habits with the group of students being transported.

  8. Reports any misconduct of students to the principal of the school to which the student belongs.

  9. Transports only authorized students and discharges students only at authorized stops.

  10. Reports all accidents to the proper law enforcement agency and completes any required reports.

  11. Refrains from the use of profanity or tobacco in any form while children are being transported. 

  12. Refrains from being under the influence of any intoxicating drink or drug while operating a school vehicle.

  13. Maintains a neat and clean vehicle.

  14. Meets with the director of transportation annually or as necessary to receive student assignments.

  15. Completes daily routes in a timely fashion.

  16. Notifies the director of transportation in the event of absence and locates a qualified substitute if possible.

  17. Arranges for routine maintenance of the vehicle with the school district mechanic.

  18. Maintains adequate fuel in the vehicle to complete all daily runs. (Fuel will not be purchased while students are in the vehicle.)

  19. Performs other such duties as may reasonably be prescribed by the Transportation & Attendance Director, Student Services Supervisor, or Director of Schools.

This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 25 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:

  6. Form Perception: To make visual comparisons and discriminations and see slight differences in shapes and shadings of figures.
  7. Color Discrimination: Ability to perceive or recognize similarities or differences in colors or shades or other values of the same color.
