MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Possess valid driver’s license and maintain safe driving record.
  3. Able to use work order management and other job related computer programs.
  4. Five (5) years’ commercial painting experience highly preferred
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Lead Assistant/Chief Facilities and Maintenance Officer

 

JOB GOAL                            

 

To assist the school system in maintaining and preserving our facilities’ condition in order to provide a safe, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing environment for students and staff.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Prepare different types of surfaces, both interior and exterior, for painting and/or sealcoating.
  2. Identify the proper materials and methods to use in unique situations.
  3. Coordinate access to work area to assure the least possible disruption to the school environment while completing the work in a timely manner.
  4. Protect surfaces in the work area from paint and from damage.
  5. Use appropriate safety and personal protective equipment.
  6. Assist coworkers with projects as needed. This may include work other than painting.
  7. Maintain assigned tools and vehicles in proper order and state of repair.
  8. Be able to respond to emergency calls when necessary. This includes after hours, weekends, and inclement weather days on an as needed basis.
  9. Any and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job may require lifting of objects weighing up to 75 lbs., with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:

  • Pushing and/or pulling
  • Stooping and/or kneeling
  • Reaching
  • Carrying tools and materials
  • Climbing and working at heights on aerial lifts, scaffolding, ladders, etc.
  • Ability to move the hands easily and manipulate small objects with the fingers.
  • Ability to access areas of construction.
  • Ability to make visual comparisons and see slight differences in shapes and shadings of figures.

CAPACITY AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. Knowledge of painting techniques and common construction practices. Ability to perform skilled painting work.
  2. Ability to learn new or job specific techniques.
  3. Ability to use the Internet to research products, subcontractors, and techniques.
  4. Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and other contract documents.
  5. The ability to understand instructions and underlying principles. Ability to reason and make judgments.
  6. Ability to visualize projects prior to construction based upon documents, drawings, and verbal information.
  7. Ability to perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately.
  1. Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

 

WORK CONDITIONS

 

Medium to high degree of discomfort due to exposure to temperature, fumes, dirt, just, noise, and cleaning chemicals.
